Catherine Hosted — Operations Supervisor

With a background in habitat restoration, Catherine has years of experience creating healthier native habitat for our taonga/treasured wildlife to thrive.

Catherine joins the team from Dunedin City Council and the Department of Conservation where she worked as the volunteer project facilitator, supporting community groups to grow their conservation efforts, develop new volunteering opportunities, and connect more people with conservation.

Catherine is most looking forward to seeing how urban communities and residents take ownership of this great challenge and lead the way towards making Dunedin City predator free!

Kate Tanner - Community Engagement Facilitator

With a background in marine protection, predator control, linguistics and volunteer management, Kate is passionate about working with people from all walks of life to achieve conservation outcomes for Ōtepoti/Dunedin.

Kate joins the team after working for the Halo Project – Beyond Orokonui and the Otago Peninsula Biodiversity Group where she managed and coordinated conservation volunteers. She has also worked for the Department of Conservation to coordinate the South-East Marine Protection Forum and with the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust.

Kate is super excited to be on the City Sanctuary team and looks forward to engaging with local communities toward achieving Predator Free Dunedin’s city-wide mission.

Zac Martin – Community Coordinator

With a background in government communications work at GNS Science, the Department of Conservation and the Capital and Coast DHB, Zac’s skillset compliments the City Sanctuary team.

Originally from Wellington, Zac joins the team with several years’ experience as a volunteer trapper.

Zac is excited to help others meaningfully connect with nature and see the Predator Free vision come to life in urban Ōtepoti/Dunedin.
